An earth pit in an electrical system refers to a pit which is dug in earth with some standard filling. Usually, earth pits are used for safety against short circuits. They also act as a reference point for your different electrical power sources. In more recent year’s earth pits have become the preferred method of earthing, especially in cases of electrical networks. Electricity works by following the path of least resistance, and so to divert the current away from a circuit earthing pits are used to reduce any ground resistance.
